The Parish of Bengeo

A family, together in faith with God our Father

Local links

We’re pleased to have a reputation as a friendly church and proud to be part of a friendly community in Bengeo.

We have close associations with our church school and local uniformed organisations, and we have further links with local shopkeepers and businesses, Tenants and Residents Associations, community police officers and Neighbourhood Watch, school head teachers and youth workers, MP’s and Ward Councillors, GP’s and health visitors, charities and support groups, as well as other churches and faith groups.

Keeping in touch with local people is essential if we’re to be at the heart of our parish. Get in touch if you want to link up with our local contacts or see your group or services listed on this site, and make Bengeo even better!’

Tonwell St Mary's School

Tonwell School is our school, the church school in the quiet village of Tonwell situated between Hertford and Ware.

St. Mary’s School is a lively centre for learning for children between the ages of 3 and 11 where each child is helped to realise their full potential. As a church school, St. Mary’s aims to develop and maintain a Christian ethos. Excellence and high personal achievement are promoted. St. Mary’s school community aims to promote a love for learning, a love for life, a love for childhood and a love for one another.

Our church plays an important role in the life of the school, aware of our responsibility to help develop children’s moral values and spiritual awareness based upon the Christian faith. A number of church members volunteer to lead a school assembly each week, and also work alongside children and staff in the classroom, assisting them during their Literacy Hour.

Maintaining a church presence within the school helps to set the children’s learning within the context of Christian beliefs, practicing and promoting Christian values through the experiences we offer and share with pupils.
